Opening Yowie Chocolates #5 (USA Series 4 of animal figures)
A new series of Yowie chocolates has arrived at my local Walmart! The newest series seems to be called USA Series 4.
Annoyingly, my Walmart mixed boxes of the old Yowies and new Yowies together so if you are not careful, you can end up buying Series 3 from the Series 4 box. Fortunately, there is a difference on the outside foil of the Yowies between Series 3 and 4.
The series 3 Yowies look like this:
Series 3 Yowies
While Series 4 look like this:
Series 4 Yowies
The most noticeable difference is the Series 4 Yowies have a white band around their stomachs printed with the Wildlife Conservation Society's logo.
If you aren't familiar with Yowies, there is a layer of chocolate under the foil that mostly covers a capsule containing a little figure. The chocolate is a decent quality and far better than the chocolate on the other candy surprise toys I have opened.
Underneath the foil are the two halves of chocolate.
Yowie Codes?
The last time I wrote about Yowies, I had a question about the codes under the barcodes and if those could help identify the toy contents of the Yowies.
Here are what the codes look like:
Mysterious code below the Best Before date
I sent the question about the codes off to the Yowie customer service team last weekend, but I have not received a response yet. I will update this post once I hear back. I suspect the codes are used to identify the production run of the Yowies in the event a product recall or other issues arise. As you can see above, the codes for both the orange and red Yowie are the same. That same box of Yowies also had a few Yowies with different codes too, but that just might be due to my Walmart consolidating the boxes of partially sold Yowies.
