Voyez-vous une différence entre l'approche hollandaise et anglaise du design? Je suis allé au Royal College of Art parce que je voulais passer mon master et à ce moment il n'y avait pas de master de design en hollande, j'avais le choix entre Milan et Londres, je voulais travailler sur l'identité et les matières et ce master londonien y correspondait. Je savais que je voulais être plus un designer industriel, designer des meubles. Maintenant, les approches sont très distinctes, je pense que le design hollandais est plus basé sur la réflexion, comment nous améliorons le monde en tant que designer, nous sommes plus sur les concepts, la philosophie de « qu'est-ce que ça signifie être un designer aujourd'hui », et moins sur la praticabilité à fabriquer et à vendre des produits. Qu'aimez-vous dans le design et que souhaitez-vous transmettre? Je vois le design comme un moyen de créer de l'art, certaines personnes font des livres, d'autres font des films, je fais des objets, je pense qu'un bon film apporte beaucoup de sens et d'excitation, de la joie et du plaisir, c'est aussi quelque chose que j'essaie d'apporter au travers de mon travail. Qu'est ce qui vous inspire le plus? Énormément de choses différentes, j'observe le monde dans lequel je vis, je vais à beaucoup d'expositions d'art, il y a aussi les designers du passé. En ce moment, j'aime travailler sur la lumière, les éclairages et les chaises ont toujours fait partie des choses sur lesquelles j'aime travailler, ce sont des objets assez complexes et challenging à travailler.
